WHAT IS A HAIR POWDER?

Do you want to add volume to your hair anytime you want? Do you wish you can add texture to your thick hair wherever you maybe? Then why don’t you look for a hair powder. But you may wonder—what in the world is a hair powder? And what can it do to your hair?

Hair powders look like baby powder but they work differently. Known as mattifying powder, a hair powder can boost the volume of fine hair and amp up the texture of thick hair. It typically contains rough particles such as rice powder. It increases friction between the hair strands to add texture to thick hair. It also contains chemicals such as kaolin clay that can absorb oil and moisture to increase the volume of hair.

HOW TO USE HAIR POWDER?

Hair powder can be used by anyone. But since it can increase the volume of hair, it is best used for people with thin to medium hair.

Using it is quite straight-forward. Shake the bottle first before directly pouring it into your hair. Alternatively, you can also pour the powder right into your hand before applying it to your hair. However, it is quite messy if you go this route.

You can apply the powder to your hair roots if you want to give your hair an instant lift.  If you have short hair, you can apply the powder to the ends.

Here’s a word of caution— the effects of hair powder won’t go away unless you take a bath. So it is recommended that you start conservatively before adding more before if you think you need it.

PROS AND CONS

Now you may wonder--- what are the pros and cons of using hair powder?

There are numerous benefits of hair powder use. One is that it can provide superior volume and hold to your hair. If your hairstyle has fallen flat, you can simply ruffle your hair and it can quickly bounce back to life.

Unlike hair sprays, hair powder does not have an overpowering fragrance. You will also need small amounts of it to style your hair.  In terms of convenience, this product is also small enough for most adults to carry around.

Of course, there are also some downsides in using hair powder. As mentioned earlier, you can’t shake off the effects of hair powder on your locks unless you wash your hair.

Moreover, you may dislike hair powder if you have always been fond of natural-feeling hair. Your hair will have a texture that is similar to that of cotton candy when you use hair powder.

And as has been hinted earlier, delivering powder to your hair can be messy especially the first time you use it.  Moreover, some hair powder brands don’t really blend well with hair so expect some white particles becoming visible on your hair.
